Overview

Remote Relays allow member access to non-supervised locations of the club such as the pool, fitness center or gym by using mag reader, scanner, or other peripheral designed to read the member’s information. This guide will demonstrate the steps to install and connect this device with CMA.

Required Permissions

  • Local IT Installation

  • CMA Access to System Settings

Installation and Set Up

  1. Local IT will buy the EP310 Ethernet Peripheral from Computerwise.com as well as whatever card reading equipment that will connect to it. (This could be a mag reader, scanner, or other peripheral designed to read the member’s information)

  2. Local IT will install the EP310 and Reader into the locking mechanism of the door the club wishes and connect the EP310 to the local network. This will assign an IP address which will be used later.

  3. Once the device is installed and has an IP address enter CMA and navigate to System, then System Settings.

  4. On the left hand pane expand Services and select Remote Relays.

  5. Click the New icon to begin adding the recently installed relay.

  6. Enter the following information:

    1. Name: The Location of the Relay

    2. IP Address: Whatever IP address was assigned the relay by the network router

    3. Port: 1070 is the most common port used. If another is needed, Local IT can assist

    4. Relay: 1

    5. Duration: 5

  7. Now click Validate to verify everything was entered correct and the system can communicate with the relay.

  8. Using the Member Type and Member Status tabs below the setup, select what members can access the relay to gain entry into the club’s location.

  9. Click the Green Checkmark to save the relay.

  10. Save the System Settings.

  11. To put time constraints on ALL relays navigate to the Help drop down and select Configure Remote Relays.

  12. The Enable All Relays toggle will turn them on or off.

  13. The From and To selectors allow time restrictions (i.e. the fitness room and pool availability is from 9am-6pm.)

  14. Click Save.

Best Practices

  1. The card reader device communicates with the Member Swipe ID in CMA. Ensure all members have this field completed for successful usage.

  2. The Remote Relay needs to be able to communicate with the server that contains the Clubsoft service. Make sure the IP address it is installed on can communicate with the Clubessential server.

FAQs

  1. Can I use a QR scanner?

    1. Yes, as long as it operates as a keyboard entry and can connect to the EP310.

  2. Is there a specific card reader I should use?

    1. No, as long as it operates as a keyboard entry and can connect to the EP310.

  3. Can I use a different Remote Relay Device than the EP310?

    1. Yes, however we only support that device currently. If another device is purchased we will be unable to ensure successful operation.
